But there’s much more to papaya than just the tremendous taste. When you consider all the amazing health benefits papaya offers you, you won’t want to pass up the chance to add it to your cooking repertoire. And it’s so versatile, you can add it to nearly any dish.

Today, we’re going to share one of our favorites with you. It’s chocked full of delicious, healthy ingredients like:
When you’re done preparing this, you’ll have a sweet and spicy, delectable lunch or dinner option.
On top of all that flavor, this dish is jam packed with a compound called papain — a digestive enzyme that helps minimize constipation or bloating you may feel and makes it easier for your body to digest protein. (1, 3)
So, you’ll get more nutrients from the foods you eat and feel incredible at the same time.
This is one of our favorite recipes for a reason.
Here’s how to make it:
1 small papaya - peeled, seeded and chopped
1 red bell pepper, chopped
1/2 red onion, chopped
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
1 teaspoon minced jalapeno peppers
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 pound sea scallops
1 large Ziplock bag
1 large skillet
First, grab a medium-sized bowl. Toss in your papaya, red pepper, jalapeno, onion, lime juice, cilantro, and lastly, a quarter of your teaspoon of salt. This absolutely elevates the taste to another level.
Now set this to the side.
Get your large Ziplock bag, and combine your flour, black pepper, and the rest of your salt. After that, add your scallops and shake the bag until they’re coated in seasoning.
Now, coat your skillet with the olive oil and get it up to medium heat. Toss in your scallops, stirring and cooking them until they’re golden.
Everything should smell outstanding at this point.
And now, you’re ready to plate. Line your dish with a heaping helping of your spicy papaya sauce. Finally, lay the beautiful, golden brown scallops right on top.
There you have it. A fantastic, flavorful meal that’ll help you stay healthy too.
